The Swiftie Scoop No. 1: "I Could Show You Incredible Things"
Birthday Wishes, Awards, Tayvis, the Globes, and more...
Hello! Welcome, or Welcome Back, to Dear Reader! I’m so excited to share with you news and updates in these monthly Swiftie Scoop editions. My idea is for this series to focus on recent news and related throwbacks, mostly from the previous month. But since this is the very first one, there’s a bit extra to cover. So let’s dive in! (And yes, as I wrote that I was picturing Taylor’s epic dive into the Midnights era).

News & highlights covered in this newsletter:
🎂 Taylor’s 34th Birthday
🥇 2023 Awards and Honors
🏈 Taylor and Travis
🖤 The Reputation Stadium Tour leaving Netflix
🏆 The Golden Globes
🫶 The Eras Tour restarting

Taylor’s 34th Birthday
A month ago today, Taylor Swift turned 34! Here are some lovely posts I came across on social media celebrating her happy day:
Two of Taylor’s Eras Tour dancers (@janravnik and @sydneymosss) put together this beautiful dance to Taylor’s song “You’re Losing Me” - not strictly for her bday, but they did share it on Dec 12th, so close enough?
Amos Heller’s birthday post brought tears to my eyes 🥹
I cannot get over the throwback photos in this post from Paul Sidoti 🤩
And of course I had to share Taylor’s own birthday post - the caption of which Swifties were quick to point out had two ellipsis, aka six periods (Rep TV Easter Egg?? 👀)
2023 Awards and Honors
In my previous newsletter, I included 2023 wrap-up content attempting to sum up Taylor Swift’s musical outputs and major awards & achievements of the year. I also wanted to share some related articles, just in case you missed them and wanted to give them a browse:
Time’s 2023 Person Of The Year - these were my highlights of the article!
Time’s Person Of The Year 2023: How We Chose - I found this one quite interesting too.
A cool graphic presentation of Taylor’s Billboard Hot 100 Chart History
Taylor and Travis
Since this is my first in my Swiftie Scoop series, I figured it was the perfect occasion (excuse?) to revisit some highlights of Taylor and Travis’ relationship. I don’t talk much about Taylor’s personal life, not wanting to pry or speculate too much into her personal business. But, I feel like there’s been quite a bit of public acknowledgement of their relationship, and I am absolutely here for ALL of it.
From the moment Travis “put Taylor on blast” by mentioning her in his podcast, to the football games, the lyric change, and more, I’ve been kicking my feet and squealing like a little kid at every sweet moment. Here’s some of my faves:
“Karma is the guy on the Chiefs” PLUS Travis and Papa Swift’s reaction
Every Time Taylor Swift Went to a Kansas City Chiefs Game, from People
ESPN getting in on the action - the “You Belong With TE” gets me every time 😂
Every Time Travis Kelce Gushed Over Taylor Swift on His and Jason Kelce’s ‘New Heights’ Podcast, from US Magazine
Also, just a heads up that if you’ve been following the Chiefs’ games - they’re playing today! Their Wild Card playoff game is at 8pm ET tonight (Jan 13th) against the Miami Dolphins at Arrowhead Stadium. Taylor has been to all of Travis’ games while on break from The Eras Tour, except for last Sunday’s game when she was at the Golden Globes instead. If she does attend tonight’s game, it’s meant to be “dangerously cold”, so I’m hoping everyone stays safe.
If you want to tune in yourself, this will be the first-ever streaming-exclusive playoff game, shown exclusively on Peacock. We’re actually planning on getting a month’s subscription for $5.99, mainly so we can tune into the game 😂 But there’s other movies and shows on there I’m sure we’ll check out while we have it. There’s also a current deal going on to get Peacock’s yearly subscription (with ads) for $29.99, half off the normal cost (using the code PEACOCK2024). Not sponsored, just a tip! Here’s some more info on how to watch the game.
The Reputation Stadium Tour leaves Netflix
On December 30th, the Reputation Stadium Tour sadly left Netflix. I saw it just in time - my sister had me over to her place (since I don’t have Netflix) to watch it, and WOW 😱 What. A. Masterpiece. My jaw is still on the floor.
Here’s one of my reactions, plus a couple other fun posts about the tour. Plus, I included a few suggestions for how to fill the void until it (hopefully 🤞) comes back to streaming:
More Taylor Swift performances/movies you can watch:
The Golden Globes
Last week, I, along with 9.4 million others (a 50% increase over 2023’s viewership according to Nielsen data), sat down and watched the Golden Globes. Taylor Swift and The Eras Tour Movie was nominated for a brand new category: Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. I was rooting for Taylor Swift to win her first ever Golden Globe. But I’m really happy for Barbie’s win, which also felt deserved given the cultural impact of that movie. Speaking of Barbie and Taylor Swift, have you seen this post about 2023 summed up in one photo?
I absolutely loved seeing Taylor lead the standing ovation for Barbie when they were announced as the winner. This post about the humbleness of Taylor and Travis really warmed my heart.
Can we also please talk about her outfit? She looked *gorgeous*, and I think it was an absolute brilliant choice to keep us on our toes. She must have known it would spark a massive debate on whether that shade of green was an Easter Egg for Reputation TV or Debut TV. What do you think?
Finally, in case you also felt like the jokes weren’t funny, here’s some videos with Taylor Swift jokes that made me giggle:
Trevor Noah hosting the Grammys - Taylor’s peace sign at the end 🤣
Some jokes that might’ve gone down better: “You know Taylor when we pictured you going to the Super Bowl we were really hoping it would be under different circumstances” 😂
The Eras Tour restarting
The Eras Tour is starting back up again in 25 days (but baby, who’s counting?)! To hold us over until then, here’s a few Eras Tour highlights:
I’m thinking about sending out a special issue of Dear Reader to fully cover getting ready for the 2024 Eras Tour - with tips for going to the Eras Tour, tuning into livestreams, keeping track of surprise songs, etc. Is that something you’d like to see?
Plus, if you’re interested in the latest clowning and theories from the Swiftie universe, look out for another issue of Dear Reader covering just that, coming to your inbox this upcoming week! Let me know if there’s any particular Easter Eggs you want to see covered in that.
I’ve included some questions below and I’d love to hear your feedback. Dear Reader is created for you! So your opinions and requests mean the world to me as I plan out future newsletters and upcoming content. Leave a comment under this post, and/or send me an email or DM over on Instagram anytime.
There you have it - the first Swiftie Scoop issue of Dear Reader! Until next time…
We could leave the Christmas lights up 'til January,
Bekah

The outfit was debutation 🤠🐍
The golden globes dress I feel is a reputation hint because it’s green and slinky like a snake.
I would love an Eras tour guide newsletter especially as it gets confusing trying to keep track with the different time zones what with being in the UK
Also, I love your newsletters so much so can’t wait to see what’s to come
